Pushkar has a legend attached to its origin. It is said that Lord
Brahma killed the Demon Vajra Nabh with a lotus flower and the petals of
that flower fell at three separate locations on the earth. Pushkar is
one of the places where a petal fell and a lake sprang up. The city has
nearly 400 temples, a serene lake and numerable ghats. Pushkar is also a
shopper's paradise where one can look for ethnic jewelry, textiles,
pleated ghagaras and woolen blankets.
